How To Be A Star - written and performed by Emily Dayton Evans

How To Be a Star is a hysterical and poignant one-woman show about intergenerational trauma, mental illness, and the power of a dream; written and starring Emily Dayton Evans. In the show Emily plays a heightened version of herself; a delusional diva who hired a ghostwriter to write her memoir. The show is staged as the memoir’s book launch, however in doing the reading Emily gets triggered by repressed childhood memories. When stories of her life as a closeted Mormon teen begin to threaten her public identity as a movie star; the show takes a turn into song, dance, and absolute hilarity.

How To Be a Star originated as a part of SOLOCOM Fest in 2019, and has been workshopped over the past two years to sold out audiences at Caveat in the LES.  It has been performed in May 2023, November 2023, and February 2024 to sold out audiences at Caveat NYC.
